The new more Arx-like guard model is taking shape nicely. Here is the concept image created by Tox.
Nemyax, our skilled and talented Blender modeller, has been hard at work transforming this concept image into a working model and animating it.
Using Nemyax’s custom coded .MD5 file format exporter, We then set about getting this model into the game engine. One of the many battles IDTech4 modders face is the dreaded articulated figure setup, or ragdolls as they are more commonly known. Here is a screenshot of the ragdoll configuration process. Those who have ventured here know it is a tedious and treacherous journey to a properly working ragdoll. You can spend many hours tuning the setup. It is not a fun time, and has to be done for all the AI models.
Here you see one of our many, many test levels. We have the new guard AI in the map and running around. We are also testing the ragdolls in the water and by throwing them down the stairs.
